With Dallimore's Home Tutoring in English Language Program, no complicated preparation is needed. Everything is included. Once you determine where your child is having difficulty, our easy to understand instructions will help you choose which lessons will be most beneficial.
The program is divided into SIX levels commencing with the beginner in Level 1 up to the child preparing for secondary school in Level 6.
Level 1 and 2 are introductory books. Level 1 includes numbers as well as the alphabet. There are activities based on phonics (sounding the words) and the use of blends of letters to write words.
Level 2 extends counting to 100 and introduces double vowels such as OO and EE, along with vowel combinations as OW and the E at the end of a word.
By the completion of Level 2 the student has learned strategies to tackle spelling along with being introduced to syllables, which is an important element of the success of Dallimore's Home Tutoring in English Program.
Levels 3 through 6 books have 32 units available in one book or two books of 16 units each. Each unit has six A4 pages, based on syllables and word attack skills, grammar, comprehension and games.
Language activities for children at higher primary grades often involve using a dictionary or an atlas, extending and improving language skills and general knowledge. Stories include world disasters, famous people, animals and plants.
Levels 3 through 6 books also help your child learn to spell and pronounce unknown words, and use prefixes and suffixes such as con and ment.
These levels will also build your child's word knowledge and use of a dictionary, giving your child the opportunity to look deeper into each word, find its variations and, of course figure out its meaning. This knowledge can be applied to written work, comprehension and in conversation.
